Outline of Training Course:

This hour long update will highlight the ESB’s requirements for competent operators in Windfarms to carry out energisation and switching in/out plant across the interface. It will outline ESB requirements for operators to be competent and skilled in the operation of the equipment under their control and the training and approvals (certification) required by the operator.

The remainder of the day will focus on Health & Safety Guidelines. IWEA is currently engaged in preparing comprehensive Health and Safety Guidelines for the Wind Energy Sector similar to those published by Renewable UK in 2010. These guidelines have been drawn up with the aim of enhancing Health and Safety on wind energy developments on the island of Ireland incorporating the legal jurisdictions of both the Republic and Northern Ireland. The guidelines currently cover onshore wind energy only. This IWEA version of the guidance covers Health & Safety Legislation in the Republic of Ireland and associated guidance from the Health and Safety Authority in addition to the existing UK guidance.
