The Treatment of Wind Generation in the Single Electricity Market
30 June, 2011
The treatment of Wind in the Single Electricity Market (SEM) has been the subject of much debate over recent years and many significant changes have been proposed or discussed. These could potentially have a substantial impact on the finances of new and existing wind generation projects. There is also significant interaction between the operation of SEM and support systems. It is expected that there will be increased clarity on this topic following an expected decision by the SEM committee and the transposition of the renewables directive into domestic legislation in the coming weeks. This course will provide an introduction to the key concepts of SEM and how these impact on wind generation. It will cover a detailed overview of the forthcoming decisions and their implications. It will also look forward at the next steps in the evolution of the market rules for wind generation.
